NEWS | Chief of Non-Governmental Organizations Branch, UN Department of Economic and Social Affairs, visited CCH

On Feb 29, Wook-Jin Chang, Chief of Non-Governmental Organizations Branch, UN Department of Economic and Social Affairs, together with administrators from Office of Foreign Affairs Committee of the CPC Beijing Municipal Committee and China NGO Network for International Exchanges, visited Chunhui Care Home. Chunhui Children’s CEO Rachel Xing and Secretary-general Liu Shan received them.

Wook-Jin Chang was briefed on CCH’s origin, concepts and operation model, and was impressed by the enriching environment Chunhui mamas created for the children. He asked about the children’s medical needs and had some loving interactions with them.

Wook-Jin Chang acknowledged what CCH had done for the children, and hoped it could network with the international child welfare community so as to bring its experience to other countries.

Inspired by this exchange with the Non-Governmental Organizations Branch, CCH will put more efforts into its service for orphaned children fighting for their lives.

Chunhui Care Home (CCH) partners with welfare institutions in China to bring infants and toddlers born with life-threatening diseases and defects to Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou for the best medical treatment available. Working with the institutions and China's top hospitals, CCH covers all areas of the children's medical treatment including hospital register, physical checkup, hospitaliza-tion, surgery, pre/post-surgical care and discharge etc. Funded by the Tomorrow Plan since 2011, the program has been serving more than 200 children fighting for their lives each year. It also established partnership with the Tomorrow Plan of Hunan, Jiangxi, Shaanxi and Henan provinces in 2020. We train full-time loving Chunhui Mamas to patiently provide the best follow-up care and emotional support so the children can recover, return to the institutions, and find a permanent adoptive family at the earliest possible date.
