Wishes of Chunhui mamas
Wish the children a happy and beautiful life
In her two years working with Shanghai CCH, Mama Shumei served quite a number of orphaned children. Under her nurturing care, all the children received their due surgery and rehabilitated. Speaking of them, Shumei couldn’t hide her happiness. She remembered how she spent every minute of every day helping each of them progress and heal.

Two years ago, Taozi was put under the care of Mama Shumei. Afflicted with congenital anal atresia and hypoplastic urethra, the three-year-old little girl often complained of sickness. She had a very short fuse and flew into a rage at the slightest provocations. Anytime her wish was unmet, she bit others or her own hands.
Each time Taozi lost her temper, mama Shumei went over to console her and, after she calmed down a little, mama picked her up and sat her in her laps. “I saw you bit your hands. Do they hurt?” mama asked while wiping the girl’s tears. “They hurt very much”, said the girl, tears still on her cheeks. “Don’t hurt yourself again, will you?” Mama held her tightly and kissed her forehead. “Ok. It won’t happen again.”
With Mama Shumei by her side every day, Taozi started to turn for the better and smile shiny smiles.
While Taozi was hospitalized for her surgery, Mama Shumei spent sleepless days and nights caring for her, nursing her surgical wounds and cleaning her body multiple times a day. Taozi’s wounds began to heal, her temperature came down, and her emotions were collected. After she returned to the CCH, she never had conflicts with other kids or hurt herself anymore.

As Taozi suffered from very complicated conditions, she came to Shanghai for medical treatment three times within one and a half years, each time under the care of Mama Shumei. They developed a bond of love. Now, Taozi has fully recovered, but each time Shumei speaks of the girl, her eyes brim over with tears. She misses her a lot, and wishes that she grows into a happy, confident and independent adult.
Chunhui Children trains thousands of front-line Chunhui Mamas to provide responsive care for orphaned children, develop secure attachment with them and pay consistent attention to their needs. With Chunhui mamas by their side, the children have an opportunity to survive and thrive. Chunhui Mama is not only a program name but also the title for the thousands of women working with our programs in welfare institutions. They serve two roles, as the children’s “mamas” and as their teachers.

Learns to create a loving and nurturing environment for the children
As a senior trainer that has worked with Chunhui Children for more than ten years, Xie Wei views herself as a companion and lead of Chunhui mamas. In her eyes, each Chunhui mama is extraordinary. Like any typical adult who will lose his/her head when first working with special needs children, green hand Chunhui mamas are challenged to take care of the children as well . But after receiving Chunhui-inspired training, they learn to accept the children from the bottom of their heart and grow into the children’s companions and mentors.
Chunhui mamas come to the children, give them motherly care and develop a close bond with them.
Xie Wei provides the Chunhui mamas with training on responsive care and rehabilitation & special education integration concepts. Chunhui mamas use these concepts to design individualized courses and support plans for the children. They all have the one belief that all children are entitled to the same family-like care and education. They want the children to learn and play, to know that they are loved and respected. While helping the children develop, the mamas grow too. And they have learned that everything they have been doing for the children matters.
Equipped with such belief and concepts, Chunhui mamas try very hard to take care of children with all types of special needs and problems. To offer these mamas consistent and all-round support, Chunhui trainers have developed a science-based complete training system.

The training helped Chunhui mamas learn and grow. While working with the children, they fall in love with them, give them all their heart and celebrate each of their littlest progresses.
